Useful search skills for Google

Here are some basic skills for google search.

  1. alternatives for www.google.com.hk: google.ca, www.bing.com
  2. how to grasp a quick view of a new area?
    eg: basics of/ introduction to area_name (computer vision etc.) filetype: pdf
    eg: community detection review/ survey/ tutorial /state of the art
  3. look for contents in a specific site:
    site, eg: imresize site:www.mathworks.com
  4. remove uninterested results:
  • (hyphen), eg: computer vision -discrete
  1. add related words:
    ~ (tilde), eg: ~college ( higher education, univ. )
  2. specify a time range:
    .., eg: 2013..2015
  3. search for flights:
    place_A to place_B flights
  4. use quotes for multiple keywords
